Nicole Büttner is one of the most prominent AI entrepreneurs and experts in Germany.

Nicole Büttner is a tech optimist at heart and has been working in the field of AI since 2015. Wirtschaftswoche named her one of 30 people who will effect change in Germany until 2030. Her mission is to create lasting impact with AI for companies and society as a whole. She advocates that AI is a chance for an age of renaissance of humanity to contribute to better and faster solutions to pressing issues.

She firmly believes that AI will fundamentally change existing industries and give rise to new business models. This led her to focus her work on understanding and architecting new business models with AI, both for existing organizations and in new companies. She founded Merantix Momentum in 2019 where she continues to serve as the CEO in order to translate the tectonic shifts that AI presents to real value creation for existing organizations. She has been recognized as one of the top 50 Women in Tech by Handelsblatt in 2021 especially for the transformation work she is doing with “Mittelstand” companies. Her expertise is highly sought out by companies and organizations and she has the privilege of serving on the boards of Poppe+Potthoff, Quinfos as well as on the advisory board of the German Ministry of Defense.

Entrepreneurship is Nicole’s passion and backing entrepreneurs is her daily work as founding partner of Merantix Capital, an early stage VC fund focused on AI, where she sits on the investment committee. She sees immense potential in creating lasting opportunities for entrepreneurs which is why Nicole advocates for creating the best conditions for founders in her position as Vice-President at the German Startup-Association.

Championing Europe’s unique potential to lead in human-centric AI is Nicole’s calling. She is committed to lifting Europe’s full potential by bringing together the worlds of research, industry and government to solve global challenges. For many years, Nicole has been known as an ecosystem builder for AI and startups across Germany and Europe. In her role as board member of Merantix she co-founded important lighthouse initiatives like AI House Davos and Merantix AI Campus, that are pillars of the European AI ecosystem.

Nicole is the co-author of “Zukunft im Widerspruch” focusing on overcoming seeming contradictions and offering solutions for a tech-positive and inclusive future.

Nicole was named Digital Leader for Europe by the World Economic Forum in 2018 and was selected twice as 40 under 40 by Capital Magazine.
